Job Status
The Software Developer is responsible for enhancements, maintenance and support of systems. Responsibilities include production support, database modifications, and analysis of technical and/or system problems. The Software Developer assists with implementations, upgrades and rollouts, application coding, and unit testing with the assistance of senior team members. This role requires collaboration with peer developers to ensure comprehensive unit testing, code review, test automation, and quality, performance and security/compliance SLAs. Partnerships with business and systems team members ensure upstream solution options and downstream delivery of features aligned to requirements. Ongoing coordination with infrastructure and middleware team members is required for proper instrumentation of monitoring, altering and knowledge transfer to optimize support. We are offering a 100% remote work from home opportunity or hybrid to work in the office 2-3 days per week.
Required:
2+ years of experience with application or script development. Some front-end, client software development experience using an MVC pattern and responsive web design. Some experience with JavaScript, CSS3, and HTML5, including JavaScript frameworks (preferably Angular) while being open to introducing or learning new frameworks. Java / J2EE, REST proficiency, building new and supporting existing enterprise scale web services. Understands how to handle most frequently used APIs. Understands concepts of SOA/micro services. Can assist with development of a specific, basic level web service. Familiar with XML/JSON formats. Proficient with SQL, data modeling and database development and maintenance (DB2, SQL Server, or Oracle). Some experience with mid-range or mainframe systems (AS400/i5OS, OS390 / MVS, Unix/AIX, iSeries, zSeries). Familiarity with STRUTS 2.0, Spring Boot Web Services and JDK 1.8 web framework, AJAX, XML/JSON/HTTP for existing system support. Awareneness of Agile Sprint software development methodology, using tools like Jira and Confluence. Familiarity of software delivery pipelines and testing frameworks for automation with a strong drive to continuously enhance our current Jenkins, Selenium, BrowserStack, Junit, AppScan, etc. pipeline. Familiarity with design of cloud-based solutions. Able to manipulate a relational database data to correct system issues. Able to perform basic functions using source management tools. Understand software testing fundamentals. Capable of designing and executing unit / module level / integration / stress test cases to detect system defects or evaluate features. Able to perform deployments, migrate data, setup environments, and provide technical support. Able to create a traceability matrix for relating design elements to all change request requirements. Able to estimate work effort accurately by using multiple methods to find convergence. Data and measures driven and process focused. Possess organizational with effective time management, ability to multi-task and handle additional responsibility. Willingness to assume responsibility and demonstrate initiative. Has decision-making ability. Excellent attention to detail and follow-through. Strong mathematical skills and ability to analyze information. Work independently, as well as be team oriented. Ability to provide and/or accept constructive feedback during peer reviews. Understands security and compliance requirements and some experience with implementing and maintaining proper controls. Associates Degree or equivalent required.
Preferred:
Possess practical business experience, comprehension of links between operations and financial results, and preferably knowledge of insurance. Bachelor's degree preferred.
